Nice little bar a few doors down from train and bus station, ideal to have a quick pint while you wait for your onward connection

Dearest place to drink in Whitby .Over £13 for 2 drinks. No wonder the bar was empty?

Brilliant. Personally not keen on the bar drink selection. Could be wider bit other than that really nice and cosy

Called in for a drink as it looked lovely as we past. We may have caught them on a bad night. Warm white wine and a very expensive Filey Bay whisky. Think the whisky was £14 or £15. That's really expensive. Bought a bottle the next day in town for £65. Don't think I will be going back. Other people were having a good time though.

Everything you would expect. Extremely clean and comfortable, polite staff, brilliant food, free car parking and situated near to town centre.

Had an evening meal in the restaurant, the food and service were very good but unfortunately as it was almost empty it lacked atmosphere.

Central hotel in Whitby with an interesting history dating back to the Tudor era. The main wing has five rooms, and there are another six next-door (the annexe) with car parking. Walking distance to the harbour, the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey and the market. Rooms are good sized, cleanliness is high, toilets are very good. Tea and coffee in the room. Nice bar in the lobby, decent restaurant, friendly and professional service. Overall, a really nice place to stay if visiting Whitby or walking the Cleveland way. Will stay again. Definitely recommended.

Absolutely stunning medieval building with huge fireplaces and low beamed ceilings. It would be nice to be able to read about its no doubt rich history (without having to go on line) as you wonder what kind of conversation went on in there in the sixteenth century. Worth checking out.

Fabulous Tudor Mansion in the centre of Whitby close to the railway station. Great food, helpful friendly service in fantastic elegant traditional hotel. Some outside tables and sunshades but close to the main road in. A small quieter shaded courtyard at the side with limited seating. Beautiful interior with original tiled fireplaces and beamed ceilings everywhere.

Now this is a gem, built in 1516 this Tudor Mansion house is fabulous. Stuffed full of original Tudor features including; beams, fireplaces, mullioned windows etc. We called in for a drink and lite bite for lunch and was given a FREE smoked salmon on crushed advocado and roasted red pepper open sandwich. We couldn't have timed it better, they're putting on a new lunch menu next week along with a new website and have made up these sandwiches for the promotional photos and were going to be thrown away, so because we asked, they gave them to us. I must say that its one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. We enjoyed it so much we've booked in for evening meal on Saturday night. Ps. They're definitely the best chips I've ever had, brown and crispy, I asked about them and apparently they're treble cooked, perfect.

Just got back from a 3 night stay, room was lovely we had room 9 in the annexe, french doors leading out to your own little outdoor space. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice, friendly staff, just a shame no food in the evenings or bar snacks. Could not fault hotel, we will be back. And we did come back, two years on, same room in the Annexe, this time a two night stay, nothing has changed which made everything from check in, breakfast to check out so smooth, will not hesitate to book again.

Our first port of call for our evening sojourn.. Elegant and a beautiful place to relax and have cocktails.. Attentive Staff.. Fabulous location steeped in history and dark tales of previous tenents.. Lavish seating and a step back in time to an era when service & style really meant something and was the order of the day.. ® Recommend DJMcG

The rooms were fabulous and very in keeping with the building. Maybe a small fridge would be a good idea for fresh milk etc. Lovely bathroom and beautifully clean. Food was amazing at breakfast and Dinner was 5 star. The staff are the best !!!!

My partner and I stayed here for two nights, having met up with our neighbours, who had reserved two rooms for the four of us. It is in a great location and all members of on-duty staff (at reception, behind the bar and in the dining room) were very helpful, courteous and efficient. The breakfast was superb and I was particularly impressed by the coffee and the porridge. However, our room within the annex was somewhat of a disappointment. The decor was rather tired, there were no black out curtains and the nets were insufficient, especially given the proximity of the car park to the room (it was metres away). Despite there being a comments card, there was no pen nor pad of note paper. We could not find any Wifi password either. The information in the guide was tatty and minimal. The TV was in an odd placement and there was no Freeview. The furniture was basic and there were no drapes above the four-poster bed. The shower was great, but sadly, there was insufficient shelving in the bathroom for toiletries. The cleaning staff were quite ignorant, smoking in close proximity to the entrance to the annex, failing to greet us with a smile or a ‘good morning’. I would have brought these comments to Bagdale Hall before posting them, but you can only contact them via telephone.

Overpriced, didnt end up staying. Came home 4 hours after check in. Paid £160 for 1 night, a 4 poster bed in the annexe which is a seperate building. Not what was advertised in the pictures. The 4 poster bed was a double bed with a big bed frame, no drapes or bed spread as pictured online. Bassic room and not comfortable as you would have expected for the price paid. Room was run down, furniture shabby, had a strange odour and was that dissappointed we decided we would rather cut our losses than stay. We explained at check out our reasons for leaving and was told they would pass along our comments but the owners were currently out of the country. No effort was made to exhange room or offer any sort of reimbursement. Other hotels are available for alot less money and higher quality. Such a disappointment. The only good thing was the location

We have been going to Bagdale now for approx 20 yrs ( last visit 2/3/4 th October 22) and I have to say that we enjoyed the last one just as much as the first one. The location is fantastic, the car park is a Hugh plus which all adds to the historic roots of this hotel, along with the haunted past. Our kids loved the atmosphere and were always on the ghost watch, Confident they would one day catch sight of a cavalier figure. Michael and the team never fail to make us feel welcome, and it's always a pleasure to go back to Bagdale , on tip, avoid the marine finish bar restaurant... Just a quick update, we have just come back from another visit to Bagdale 23,24&25 th Nov. Always a pleasure to come here, and always look forward to a lovely breakfast, the resort was a bit breezy and cold , but that never puts us off , the pubs are nice and warm , and full of new people to talk to .....

Lovely hotel. Good clean room. Great free WIFI, TV, tea/coffee making facilities. The included breakfast was fantastic and of great quality. Will definitely be returning. Update: 15/10/23: We stayed again for one night. Our room was a 4 poster in the annex. Lovely large bed, clean room with un-suite bathroom. Lovely rainfall shower. Morning breakfast was still fantastic quality. Lovely building and surroundings. Staff were amazing, very polite and helpful. Looking forward to staying again.

If you like clinical, this is not the place, but if you like places with character and history, this is the place.
